About the artist
David Hinchliffe is an Australian painter whose work often draws on city streets and the people who animate them. His urban scenes convey movement and atmosphere, treating the city as a place of encounters and daily activity.
He works principally in oils on canvas or linen and has also made gouache paintings, sculpture and photographs. Loose, expressive handling gives the urban subject an immediate, observational quality.
